Alexander Santiago-Jirau is Director of Education & Community Engagement at New York Theatre Workshop where he oversees the Mind the Gap intergenerational program, school partnerships, after-school programs, masterclasses, fellowships, and community-based programs. Favorite work at NYTW includes developing educational materials and programming for David Bowie’s and Enda Walsh’s Lazarus directed by Ivo van Hove, Anaïs Mitchell’s Hadestown developed with and directed by Rachel Chavkin, Othello directed by Sam Gold featuring Daniel Craig and David Oyelowo, Heidi Shreck’s What the Constitution Means to Me, and Jeremy O. Harris’s Slave Play. Recent work includes the facilitation of intergenerational workshops in London and Chile and the creation of the Youth Artistic Instigators ensemble.
