Dr. Emilie Mitchell (she/her/hers) is a distinguished educator, author, and administrator who has devoted her career to promoting equity, inclusion, and a sense of belonging within higher education for LGBTQ+ individuals. Currently, Emilie serves as the Chair of the LGBTQ+ Advisory Committee for LGBTQ+ Initiatives & Student Support at the Foundation for California Community Colleges. For the past four years, she has also chaired the CCC LGBTQ+ Summit, a crucial platform that fosters growth and transformation within CCC institutions for students, faculty, classified professionals, and administrators alike. Additionally, Emilie serves as theTri-Chair of the Transgender Athlete Taskforce for the California Community College Athletics Association, where she works tirelessly to ensure that sports participation in California's community colleges is an inclusive and thriving space for transgender and non-binary athletes. Her leadership in these roles has been instrumental in advancing the rights and well-being of LGBTQ+ students throughout the state. In addition to her advocacy work, Emilie holds the esteemed position of Dean of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Cosumnes River College, a California Community College in Sacramento, California.

Emilie earned her doctorate in Social Psychology from the University of California, Davis, and holds a master's degree in General Psychology with a focus on Research Design and Analysis from California State University, Long Beach. Her research, publications, and presentations at both statewide and national conferences have made her a recognized authority in serving the unique needs of LGBTQ+ students within the community college system.

Furthermore, Emilie is a prominent author, having co-authored the recently released book, "Queer & Trans Advocacy in the Community College." Her work continues to provide invaluable insights into the challenges and solutions for LGBTQ+ individuals in higher education.
