Maureen Ponce

Dr. Ponce is the President of the Maryland School Counselor Association, a state affiliate of the American School Counselor Association. In this role, she represents the voice of school counselors from the state of Maryland. Dr. Ponce has over 25 years' experience as a school counselor. Dr. Ponce identifies as a leader, advocate, and an interrupter as she supports the school counseling profession and students. Dr. Ponce’s dissertation research explored the relationship between students perceived academic successes and how that correlates with perceived teacher and institution support. Dr. Ponce has led her department in transforming their practices in order to implement a comprehensive school counseling program and recently earned the prestigious Recognized ASCA Model Program Award.
