Carole Paterson
Carole Paterson, a biology graduate of St. Lawrence University, began her teaching career as an environmental educator and summer camp director in the Catskills of New York. Carole moved to Pennsylvania where land and water conservation took center stage as she worked as a project coordinator with local and regional organizations to address environmental challenges while simultaneously increasing public awareness and engagement around environmental concerns. After earning her teaching degree and credentials from Saint Vincent College in 2004, she taught high school environmental science for seven years. When an opportunity arose to join the faculty of a local independent school, Carole chose to shift into a role teaching science in Kindergarten through 8th grade. After completing an SEL Leadership program through St Francis University in 2018, Carole took on the role of SEL Coordinator and founded the core values program. Today, Carole wears many hats at Valley School and in her community including Science Teacher, SEL Coordinator, Summer Camp Director, Advisor, and member of the student support team. Most recently, Carole has begun graduate school work at Vanderbilt University to receive her Masters in Independent School Leadership.
