Shereem Herndon-Brown
Best-selling author and fascinating speaker, Shereem's experiences in the college admissions field are unparalleled. As an educator for almost twenty years and entrepreneur for over a decade, he has counseled many students and families through the often-frustrating private school and college “admissions maze.”
Before he set out on this purpose-filled assignment, he worked as an Admissions Officer at Georgetown University and a guidance counselor at two high schools. Having worked on “both sides of the desk” in admissions gives Shereem a perspective that few other counselors have. He aims to assist students and families who do not readily know about this process or have extensive knowledge of the world of college admission. He clearly has his finger on the pulse of what is most important to families and is consistently strategic in his approach to helping students to have school choices.
He is a graduate of Wesleyan University with a Bachelor’s degree in English and a Masters of Arts degree from the Breadloaf School of English at Middlebury College. In 2005, he was selected by the National Association of Independent Schools as an E.E. Ford Fellow for Aspiring Heads of School. Additionally, he has served on the Board of Trustees at La Cima Elementary Charter School in his native Brooklyn, New York. He is also a Member of the Independent Educational Consulting Association (IECA), the National Association (IECA) and the National Association of College Admissions Counseling (NACAC). Above all, Shereem is a husband, father, and distinguished gentleman of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated.
