Maya Henson Carey

Maya Henson Carey, Ed.D. is a research analyst at the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC). In her role, she writes articles that raise awareness of racial injustices and hate groups across the country. She recently authored “Assault on Inclusive Education and How We’re Fighting Back” as part of SPLC’s Year in Hate and Extremism. She has a master’s in psychology and education and a doctorate in education. Before working at the Southern Poverty Law Center, she was the Associate Director of Prospect Research and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Coordinator. Her passion for diversity and equity education drives her work in bringing awareness to injustices in the education system.
