Maurice Swinney, Ed.D. is a nationally recognized equity leader in education and the Chief Innovation Officer at Chicago Beyond, fostering collaboration between district equity leaders to drive equity initiatives in districts across the country. He served as Chicago Public Schools’ first-ever Chief Equity Officer and interim Chief Education Officer where he led the creation of the district’s first equity framework. He shifted funding to underserved schools and co-led the policy redesign process, making 30+ district policies more equitable. His accomplishments grew out of 22 years of educational experience, serving as a teacher, principal, and district leader. Maurice joined Chicago's subcommittee on education to co-author a report to guide educational policies and initiatives.
