Electing School Boards in a Presidential Election Year

This session is part of the special 2024 Crossover Day. Attendance is open to all SXSW EDU badgeholders as well as all SXSW badgeholders. As always, SXSW strongly believes in the power of mixing creative communities.

We will explore the vital role of school boards in shaping educational policies, fostering inclusive environments, and championing student success. We'll discuss the important issues at stake, including curriculum decisions, resource allocation, equity initiatives, and the anatomy of a successful get out the vote effort. Through engaging discussions & real-world examples, our panel will underscore the connections between effective school governance and positive educational outcomes. We will explore strategies for raising awareness, mobilizing voters, & advocating for equity-focused candidates.
