DeShanna Reed
Dr. DeShanna Reed is a tenured educator and former campus administrator with over a decade of experience at the elementary, secondary, and postsecondary levels in general and special education across three of the largest school districts in Texas. She is also a veteran of the United States Army. Currently, Dr. Reed is focused on educational research regarding SEL integration and improving systems of addressing the holistic and professional needs of educators and leaders while increasing student achievement in core content. She is the co-founder of a nonprofit organization serving individuals with disabilities and their families, and owner of D. Reed Coaching, Consulting & Advocacy, LLC; and educational
consulting firm focused on improving equity, access, and inclusive systems for academic, social, and emotional success. To date, she has authored several research articles in peer-reviewed journals and a newly-released book entitled The UDL for SEL: A research-based, practical guide for improving planning, instructional, and assessment practices for whole-student and whole-eduactor success; available in paperback now on Amazon, with the ebook version coming March 8th and the audiobook due for release in April 2023. Dr. Reed is an alumni of the University of Houston graduate College of Education doctoral program for Professional Leadership with focus in Special Populations. In additional to her professional work, Dr. Reed serves on the superintendent’s advisory committee for Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District in Houston, Texas, is a member of the Cypress Belles Chapter of National Charity League, Inc., and the advisory board for Best Buddies in Houston.
