Jasmine James
Jasmine J. is a twenty-eight-year-old educator from Chicago, IL. Her praxis is centered around trauma-informed learning. She has had the pleasure to teach multiple grade levels and, this year is teaching sixth-grade science. In 2021, after surviving gun violence she founded The Trauma Zone, a communal healing hub that seeks to disrupt the harmful cycle of trauma by creating healing spaces and providing wrap-around services for Black communities. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Community Psychology with a focus on the need for the creation of mental health services in Chicago’s 20th Ward. Outside of work, Jasmine loves to spend time with her son, dance and spend time outdoors.
