Melanne Verveer

Ambassador Melanne Verveer is the executive director of the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security and convener for the Initiative for U.S.-China Dialogue on Global Issues Research Group on Women and Society. She served as the first U.S. ambassador for global women’s issues, a position to which she was nominated by President Barack Obama in 2009, and currently serves as the special representative on gender issues for the OSCE Chairmanship. She is a member of the faculty committee for the Collaborative on Global Children's Issues.
