Shai Reshef

Shai Reshef is the President and Founder of University of the People (UoPeople), the world’s first non-profit, tuition-free, American, accredited online university, dedicated to opening access to higher education. Grounded in the belief that knowledge is a key ingredient of world peace, UoPeople provides access to collegiate-level studies to qualified individuals regardless of geographic, financial or societal constraints. UoPeople currently serves over 117,000 of the neediest students from over 200 countries. Many of UoPeople's students are first-generation, refugees, undocumented or working parents. UoPeople was founded by Reshef in 2009 using his own money and he serves the University as an unpaid volunteer. Reshef holds an M.A. in Chinese Politics from the University of Michigan.
