Anne Penson is the Executive Director of Women’s Initiatives at the NYC Department of Correction, where she oversees the programs and partnerships that are responsive to incarcerated women’s unique needs. Her leadership ensures that each woman who comes into custody receives a targeted plan that includes both jail-based and community-based services and will support a successful reentry into the community. Prior to her work at the Department of Correction, Penson served in various leadership roles at social services organizations including Safe Horizons, Homes for the Homeless, and Bowery Residents’ Committee. She has a B.A. from The College of New Rochelle in Psychology and a MS in Criminal Justice and Corrections from Capella University.
