Kara Pranikoff

Kara Pranikoff has cultivated a robust instructional life in NYC. She has spent many years as a classroom teacher in a public school known for its inquiry-based learning and integrative social studies curricula. She has also had the privilege to learn and lead in many capacities: a reading interventionist; a Literacy Coach; a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisor; and an adjunct instructor at Bank Street College of Education.

Kara's book, "Teaching Talk: A Practical Guide to Fostering Student Thinking and Conversation", shares ways to foster productive and independent student discussions in elementary and middle school classrooms. She believes that conversations have the power to nurture students and teachers to become co-conspirators in the creation of a more inclusive world.
