At just 20 years old, Kristi Yamaguchi became the first Asian American woman to win an Olympic gold medal in figure skating when she finished first in women's singles at the 1992 Winter Games (Albertville, Canada) and also won two World Figure Skating Championships (1991, 1992). Since then, Kristi has journeyed through her roles as a wife, mother, author, philanthropist and founder of Always Dream, dedicated to closing the achievement gap by providing access to high-quality books in the home environment and extensive family engagement support to underserved children.
