Filming TikToks to Teach Writing Thesis Statements
Participants will roleplay as students in a tried-and-true English 101 activity: filming TikToks to learn writing essay thesis statements. We will debrief to unpack how this particular activity uses an asset based mindset, inclusive learning modalities, multimedia, collaborative group work, vulnerability, and laughter to teach core skillsets that are traditionally mechanical and boring. We will walk away visualizing how to bring these concepts into our classroom. And the best TikToks win prizes.
