Civil Rights Practicum: The 1961 Freedom Riders
A presentation of an ongoing Civil Rights Practicum including participants in the 1961 Freedom Rides, which integrated the interstate bus system in the American South. A partnership between several Freedom Riders, 60 year veterans of the Civil Rights Movement and NYC students who are themselves participants in Black Lives Matter work, we will share this intergenerational dialogue and provide a framework for others to develop their own practicum experiences and project based learning work.
Programming descriptions are generated by participants and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of SXSW.
