As editor of The Chronicle, Brock Read directs the nation’s largest newsroom dedicated to covering colleges and universities. Since joining The Chronicle in 2001, he has served in a variety of roles in and around the newsroom — reporting on the rise of Wikipedia and Facebook, editing investigative and narrative feature work, guiding two website redesigns, and overseeing the creation of a new news-and-advice portal for early-career academics.
The journalism he has edited has won awards from the Society of Professional Journalists, the Society for Advancing Business Writing and Editing, and the Education Writers Association, for which he is a frequent awards judge. He graduated from Williams College with a B.A. in art history.
