Venkat Ramaprasad
Venkat Ramaprasad earned his doctorate from The University of Texas at Austin in Curriculum Studies. He currently teaches Language Arts in high school and a teacher preparation course at The College of New Jersey. His research focuses on the conceptualization and positionings of South Asians conceived broadly with a specific focus onSouth Asian Indian identity formation as informed through interactions with peers, curricula, and educators. Before completing his work, he obtained his Masters in secondary English teaching from The College of New Jersey, and his bachelors in English from Villanova University. He has published pieces in South Asia: The Journal of South Asian Studies as well as a special issue of South Asian Review, and has presented at educational conferences including AERA and AESA. When outside of the classroom, he enjoys physical fitness, meditation, and proper football with friends and family.
