Sibby Anderson-Thompkins is the vice provost for diversity, equity and inclusion and chief diversity officer at Sewanee, a private liberal arts college in Tennessee. In this inaugural role, Anderson-Thompkins reports to the president and provost, co-leads the University’s strategic planning process for diversity, equity and inclusion, and oversees multicultural affairs and Title IX. Previously, she was a professor of practice in Public Policy and served as the special assistant to the chancellor and provost for equity and inclusion/chief diversity officer at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She also led the Carolina Postdoctoral Program for Faculty Diversity and diversity-related initiatives for the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research. She has strengthened mentoring for scholars, raised awareness of implicit bias and anti-racist practices across departments, and created partnerships to broaden the professoriate.
