Josie McSpadden
Josie McSpadden leads media affairs for the United States Program at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, building public understanding for the foundation's education work and managing relations with national press. Previously, Josie served in Teach For America as an 8th-grade writing teacher in San Antonio, Texas. Before teaching Josie was the global spokesperson for the Peace Corps, traveled with U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to staff all media interviews and press conferences abroad, and served as the Deputy Director for Presidential Press Advance in the George W. Bush administration. She holds a master’s degree in national security from the U.S. Naval War College with a focus on asymmetric warfare. She also holds a master's degree in journalism from Georgetown University with emphasis on news writing, production, still photography, and interviewing.
