Sierra Thernes

Sierra thernes, a consistent seeker of truth, beauty, and goodness, is the 2021 Teacher of the Year for Calavera Hills Elementary School in California where she and her crew of dedicated classroom aides work collaboratively to leverage the diverse strengths in every student while providing a safe and nurturing environment to develop empathy & civic literacy while learning through immersive experiences.

Always striving to better herself, Sierra Thernes is currently a K-3 Social Emotional Academic Support Education Specialist with a background working in several early childhood educational settings, including preschool, in-home care, and tutoring. Her passion for the arts, team sports, psychology, and social justice are woven into her daily practice as she designs differentiated project-based learning experiences to meet the unique needs of her diverse students.
