Jonah Martinez Goldstein
Jonah Martinez Goldstein is a senior at Williams College. Since his time in New York public schools he has advocated for student representation in education policy-making. He has also championed performance assessment alternatives to high-stakes standardized tests, which have been shown to disproportionately harm the most marginalized students. He previously worked for the Harvard Graduate School of Education’s EdRedesign Lab, and for the Learning Policy Institute, where he advised on published reports on homeless students and led qualitative research studies into child and assessment policy. As a researcher, he has focused on different examples of alternative classroom practice that work to engage all students, and has consulted on testing policy for the New York State Board of Regents. As an advocate, he has taken his message from educators and policy-makers to venues like SXSW EDU, where he previously spoke in 2019 on testing and student engagement.
