Aileen Owens has an extensive history and diverse experiences building robust learning ecologies and pathways in computer science and STEAM education. Over the last 10 years Aileen focused on building a vertically aligned K-12 CS/STEAM Pathway at South Fayette Township School District in Pittsburgh, PA. Recently supported by a PAsmart Advancing grant, and currently through an NSF grant, Aileen is working with teams in seven regional school districts and two school districts in rural Kentucky to co-create unique CS/STEAM pathways for their communities to enhance innovative teaching and learning opportunities and prepare students for the future of work. As director of ThroughlinesEdu, Aileen continues to work at the intersection of education and economic redevelopment programs assisting communities in adapting and creating culturally relevant models focused on equity and diversity for computer science and STEAM learning for all students.
