Joseph Seivold
Joseph W. Seivold joined Berkeley Preparatory School as its sixth Headmaster in 2011. He leads a thriving, 86-acre campus that is home to approximately 1,380 students and 300 faculty and staff. Under his leadership, the bar has been set high to grow Berkeley into a nationally regarded, top-tier independent day school. Guided by an ambitious school Master Plan aimed to enhance the campus infrastructure and grow the endowment, Seivold played a key role in the fundraising of the school’s $65 million Above & Beyond campaign effort.
His entrepreneurial approach led to the creation of the Center for Environmental Research and Experiential Science as well as Berkeley's Center for Advanced Experiential Learning, which includes the Business Institute, Law Institute and Health Sciences Institute.
In addition to leading Berkeley, Seivold serves as a director on the Board of the Florida Council of Independent Schools, and teaches in FCIS’s Prospective Heads Institute. He is also on the advisory boards of Theorem Media and USF Health. Seivold graduated Phi Beta Kappa from UNC with a degree in history. While at UNC, he was an Academic All-American and a four-time All-American lacrosse player. He holds a master's degree in Education Administration from St. Mary's University of Minnesota.
