Emily Barton
Emily Barton is a Research Assistant Professor at the Curry School of Education and Human Development, and serves as the Director of Implementation Research at Jefferson Education Exchange.
At JEX, Emily helps to oversee a national effort to identify, define, and measure the contextual factors that primarily contribute to the success or failure of edtech implementations. Emily leads the research efforts that power this work, gathering direct user input from educators on why technology is and is not working in their schools. Blending this information with current literature, she communicates these findings back to the education community in actionable formats.
Emily began her career in education as a middle school special education teacher and was inspired by the potential of classroom technology. Emily received her PhD in Instructional Technology from the University of Virginia where she taught courses for preservice teachers on instructionally-grounded technology integration.
