Sara Clarke joined U.S. News & World Report in 2006 as a web producer. She later served as deputy editor and then education editor, managing the online editions of Best Colleges, Best High Schools and Best Graduate Schools. She moved to the News team in 2012 and was tapped to lead Best States in 2017. She previously worked for The Seattle Times, Knight-Ridder/Tribune, The Washington Post and Roll Call. She is a graduate of the University of Maryland.
