Natasha Trivers
Natasha Trivers is a Jamaican-American, mother of three who grew up in Brooklyn and Queens, NY after her mother immigrated from Jamaica. She attended a public middle school and high school in Queens and then attended Rutgers University for her undergraduate degree. It was during Natasha’s final year at Rutgers when she realized she no longer wanted to pursue a career as a criminal public defender but rather get into the battlefield of education to address the inequities in America. In 1999, Natasha decided teaching would be her first step towards this mission. Natasha attended Teachers College, Columbia University for her masters in English Education and got certified to teach through this program. She started her career as an English teacher in 2002, then came to Democracy Prep as an Assistant Principal in 2011, became Superintendent in July of 2017 and was named CEO April of 2019. Now her eldest son, Kofi, is currently attending his first year at Morehouse College!
