Alexys Thomas

Garden Educator
MUSE School

Growing up in suburban Los Angeles, Alexys gained a passion for nature through travel. At 19 years old, she found herself working in Southeast Asia with a nonprofit, teaching sports education. While living on site, it was required that everyone contribute to the garden, including working with animals. This experience was life altering, and after returning to the United States, she found herself on a new career path. Alexys began work as an intern with a gardening nonprofit, and went back to school to learn agriculture education. She has now been educating students from pre-school to high school for 6 years. She is passionate about encouraging students to explore the natural environment. Her primary focus is fighting food injustice, and she does so through educating students of past and current issues surrounding food and agriculture. Alexys loves learning about food histories of varying cultures, near and far.
