Don Vu

Don has been a teacher and principal for nearly 24 years. As a Vietnamese refugee and an ESL student, Don understands the challenges of learning a new language and culture. He also knows that reading books can be transformative. Don and his staff chartered the Broncos Read campaign in 2014 to foster the love of reading. In 2017, Barrett Ranch received the Celebrate Literacy Award from the California Reading Association and Placer Area Reading Council. In 2018, the school received the Exemplary Reading Program Award from the International Literacy Association. Don is a member of the Scholastic Book Fairs Principals’ Advisory Board, Placer Area Reading Council, California Reading Association, and International Literacy Association.
