Heather Frederick
Raised in a small, rural Northern California town, Heather is lucky to have parents and family who always support them. They co-founded their high school’s first Gay-Straight Alliance and attended San Diego State University where they first came out to friends as bisexual, and majored in Spanish, Women’s Studies, and Linguistics. Heather went on to Costa Rica to attain their Master’s Degree in Gender & Peacebuilding from the UN-mandated University for Peace, and lived in Turkey after graduation. Heather has been in Austin since 2012, and has been committed to working with organizations dedicated to bodily autonomy and safety. They came out as bi to their mom two years ago, and despite using they/them pronouns online for around five years, are finally starting to use they/them in real life, too. In their free time Heather loves cuddling their rescue dog, travelling and eating with their partner, dancing, reading and writing. They’re definitely still figuring out this whole gender thing.
