Robin Mencher leads the expansion of KQED’s service to the education community through providing free, high-quality open educational resources and services to promote youth civic participation, media literacy development and relevant, engaging real-world connections that support college, career and community readiness. She represents KQED statewide and regionally as a member of numerous task forces and councils focused on STEM, Arts, standards implementation and career academies and pathways.
Prior to KQED, Robin worked with San Francisco public schools directing teacher leadership and professional development programs at the San Francisco Education Fund. A former classroom teacher, her work in education emphasizes media and academic literacy, technology integration, teaching English learners, and educational equity. Robin holds an M.A. in Education from Mills College and a B.A. in American Studies from UC Santa Cruz.
