Monica Green is the Founder and Executive Director of Capital Village Public Charter Schools in Washington, D.C, a network of micro-schools focused on developing the whole child through personalized, student-centered expeditions rooted in social justice. Monica’s prolific career in education began with a 15-year tenure as an English and theater teacher throughout D.C., Maryland, and Virginia, where she grounded curricula in field experience, creativity, and community engagement. As an AVID leader and coordinator, Monica led two new AVID sites to certification in four years by pushing educators and curricula to live up to each student’s full potential. In this position, Monica grew an unwavering commitment to students’ equal access to a rigorous, college-preparatory academic path, regardless of their academic history. Prior to creating Capital Village, Monica started Project Destiny Educational Solutions to consult and provide curriculum writing and professional development services.
