Heidy Mejia-Puerta is a LEDA Scholar and a rising sophomore at Brown University pursuing a degree in Latin American & Caribbean Studies. Heidy is originally from rural, eastern Oregon and grew up in an immigrant household. Heidy's passion for educational equity stems from her experience attending under-resourced public schools throughout K-12 and how that has impacted her transition to college. Inspired by her own experience, Heidy supports incoming students acclimate to college as a workshop facilitator. Heidy hopes to attend law school after graduation.
