Amoreena Olaya

Amoreena Olaya is the Education Director at C.B. Community Schools. After graduating with honors from Rider University, where she played Division I basketball, Ms. Olaya began her 25-year teaching career in New Jersey. After moving to Philadelphia, Ms. Olaya continued to teach English and history in middle and high schools both public and charter. Teaching at C.B. for the past two years has been like coming home for her. Ms. Olaya considers herself one of the lucky ones who benefited from the foster care system, having found an adoptive home at age 9. When not at C.B., Ms. Olaya enjoys tracking the triumphs and tribulations of her two college-aged sons Manny and Matheo. She lives in Southwest Philadelphia with her dog Harriet.
