Joel is a 32 year old wanderer, who uses gifs to reply to work emails far too often, who bakes and curls on the weekend, and is currently working at the intersection of higher education and architecture. Growing up as a Navy brat, he got to live across the entire US as well as a few years in Japan, which means he is now endlessly curious about new topics and opportunities. Joel is a former higher education administrator, with extensive experience in conference and event planning, student organization development and advisement, card and data system management, and government and community relations. A seasoned presenter, he has spoken on a range of topics from the dynamics of urban higher education, to what lessons soccer and Star Trek can teach us about higher ed, and why MOOCs were never as scary as Godzilla even though most higher ed leaders thought they were. Oh, and he's one of the members of Humans of Higher Education.
