Research suggests that SEL is a tool to support education equity and counter systemic racism. But there are also concerns it’s a tool of cultural colonization, teaching children of color to act white. How can SEL support equity? How does it need to change to better serve children of color? Is SEL an appropriate strategy to support equity? In this campfire session, we will explore diverse experiences and share ways to bridge the gap between student needs and educator preparedness.
