GIGA School & Beyond: Education Reform in Japan

The Ministry of Education announced the "Policy to Use Cutting-Edge Technology to Support Learning in a New Age" in June 2019. In Dec 2019, the Japanese government decided to invest $2.1+ billion to develop a single terminal for all schoolchildren and a high-speed, large-capacity communication network in all schools. We call the policy “GIGA schools”. As an example of data interoperability and educational data, we will introduce academic ability survey in local governments.
