REPRESENT: Community & Culture in Arts Education

Date TBA

This interactive session aims to challenge the current norms considered Best Practices in the field of Art Education and how they address Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion. Viewing DEAI through the lens of social justice will lead to new and dynamic frameworks of arts programming that will support the creation of relevant exhibitions, genuine visitor experiences, and invested community engagement. Through a series of hands-on exercises, collaborative problem solving and interactive group discussions, this session will challenge participants to creatively work through some of their own projects or ideas. At the completion of this session, participants will have practical tools on how to implement new paradigms based on social justice as an active practice of arts education.

Programming descriptions are generated by participants and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of SXSW.
