Nerissa Street

Award-winning educator Nerissa Street engages her audiences through storytelling, media and compelling experience. Nerissa was selected a 2017 Broward Woman of Distinction by the Lauderhill Regional Chamber of Commerce. She is the 2017 Broward Arts Teacher of the Year for Theater. She founded Girls Call the Shots, Inc., an award-winning teen film leadership camp for girls. She is a 2015 Florida Alliance for Arts Education STAR teacher and a Knight Foundation Knight Arts Challenge finalist.
Her past national audiences include: Images and Voices of Hope, Artspace USA, , Universal Foundation for Better Living, the Women’s Media Center, and the Center for Spiritual Living. She’s done a TEDx Talk and was a speaker at the 2018 South by Southwest (SXSW EDU) conference in Austin, TX.
She is the executive producer of the Black Broward Film Project’s documentary series, documenting the historic black communities in Broward County as they are being transformed by climate change gentrification.
