Kathleen McClaskey
Kathleen McClaskey (@khmmc) is Founder of Make Learning Personal, Co-Founder of Personalize Learning, LLC and co-author of bestsellers Make Learning Personal: The What, Who, Wow, Where and Why and How to Personalize Learning: A Practical Guide for Getting Started and Going Deeper. Kathleen began her career in educational technology in 1983 where she envisioned that “Computers are the great equalizer”. She will tell you that she has realized that vision and it is what drives her work in personalized learning. Today, Kathleen is an innovative leader, education technologist, speaker, professional developer, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) consultant with over 30 years experience in creating learner-centered environments as a teacher, K-12 administrator, graduate instructor and consultant. Kathleen was an early adopter of UDL with first designing and instructing graduate courses on UDL at Cambridge College and Plymouth State University starting in 2002. Over the course of 10 years, she designed and directed seven multi -year state projects using UDL as the framework in math, science, literacy and autism. Since 2012, Kathleen is a frequent presenter on using the UDL Lens to personalize learning in K-12. In January 2017, she joined Education Reimagined’s Pioneer Lab with other pioneering educators to help create a national movement to transform education by developing learner-centered environments everywhere. She is passionate in empowering learners with tools, skills and learning strategies so they become independent self-directed learners with agency who are future ready for college, career and life. Kathleen coined the phrase: “Every child on the planet is a learner”. With that understanding, she continues on her mission for educators to discover the learner in every child.
