Larry Perez
Larry Perez is currently a fifth grade bilingual teacher at Barbara Jordan Early College Prep in Austin ISD. He grew up in Houston, Texas and made his way to Austin to receive his B.A. in Applied Learning and Development from the University of Texas at Austin in 2012. While working as an elementary teacher, Mr. Perez sought to increase his instructional capacity in math and science by becoming a member of the National Science Teachers Association and National Council of Teachers in Mathematics. Mr. Perez collaborated with teachers from Austin ISD to write science curriculum for the district. Outside of the classroom, Mr. Perez engages with community stakeholders with his role of Campus Advisory Council and FIP member. Mr. Perez received his Master’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin in Educational Leadership and Policy. Mr. Perez was awarded Austin ISD Elementary Teacher of the Year for the 2017-2018 school year. He is a firm believer that we must hold all students to high expectations because all students can be successful.
