Lauren Gerken

Lauren, 24, says that when she was born, her parents got the "she'll never amount to anything" speech, and but they were determined to have the same expectations for Lauren as they did for her brother. She was raised with a deep value for education, and fought hard for the supports she needed to succeed in school. She graduated with her Master's in Disability Studies and has been working in professional advocacy for about three years. She moved into her own apartment in October. She is also a writer who writes realistic disability stories , and had one published in ImageOut Write.
