Jan Friese

Jan Friese is the Executive Director of the Texas Counseling Association, a
position that she has held since 2003. Jan attended college in New York City and
pursued graduate work at the UT Health Science Center in Houston and the
University of Houston School of Social Work. Advocacy on behalf of professional
counselors and coordination of TCA’s public policy agenda are priorities for Jan. In
addition to legislative work, Jan works closely with the state agencies and
regulatory boards that oversee the work of all professional counselors and is
often an invited speaker at their events. Prior to joining TCA, Jan worked on
public policy, business development and marketing programs for a number of
state agencies, private corporations and not-for-program organizations.
