Mark Smith
Mark Smith is the Director and Librarian of the Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC). TSLAC provides Texans access to the information needed to be informed, productive citizens by preserving the archival record of Texas; enhancing the service capacity of public, academic, and school libraries; assisting public agencies in the maintenance of their records; and meeting the reading needs of Texans with disabilities.
Mark speaks widely about the transformational potential of libraries and archives. He is president of the Western Council for State Library Agencies and serves on the board of United for Libraries, the Austin Book Arts Center, the Texas Digital Library and several committees of the Chief Officers of State Library Agencies.
