Jim Brewer
Jim Brewer is the Managing Director of Government Affairs and Policy at the American Institute of Architects (AIA). In addition to his role as the chief lobbyist on Capitol Hill, Brewer leads federal and state efforts for AIA. With 11 years of experience in government affairs, Brewer has developed a specialized experience in design and construction policy with eight years representing the interests of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades as well as the American Society of Interior Designers, and now architects. Brewer has been closely involved with the authoring and passing of numerous pieces of legislation, including securing $61 million to paint the US Capitol Dome's exterior, guaranteeing workforce training is required on US Army Corps of Engineers maintained water infrastructure projects and reducing a federal tax on commercial real estate properties, which led to billions in new investment and large job creation in the design and construction industries.
