In his past work, Mr. Wilson was the Miami-Dade County Public Schools Administrative Director, Office of School Operations/Special Programs where he oversaw special programs for the district. There he oversaw and operated the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project, a nationally recognized dropout prevention program that services over 8,000 at-risk minority males in over 100 schools in Miami-Dade County. In this role, Mr. Wilson monitored site-based, embedded professional development activities, coordinated Critical Incident Response (CIR) processes for over 450 elementary and secondary schools in conjunction with Miami-Dade County Public Schools Police, and oversaw emergency management response services for the district including hurricane preparation, shelter preparation, damage assessment, and relief aid. While at Broward County Public Schools, Mr. Wilson was a key leader as Elementary and Secondary School-Based Administrator. There he experienced and grew as an effective leader in school-based administrative at both the elementary and secondary levels. His other responsibilities included: devising master schedules focused on meeting the needs of the student population, fiscal management, progress monitoring of instructional personnel and student achievement, creating instructional pacing guides and instructional focus calendars, management of student discipline, and co-chairing district administrative councils responsible for the professional development of school leaders. Mr. Wilson also brings experience with the Florida Department of Education/Just Read, Florida where he was the Area Coordinator for Broward and Palm Beach Counties. In this role, he supported school and district personnel in creating and facilitating professional development experiences for low-performing schools across Broward and Palm Beach; facilitated mentoring activities designed to support literacy development; identified on-going professional development needs for school districts; and, facilitated think-tanks revolving around effective implementation of literacy achievement. Mr. Wilson graduated from Florida International University with an M.S., Urban Education and from Florida A&M University with a B.S., Elementary Education.
