David Rodriguez

David is a middle school educator at AltSchool. He places a relentless focus on putting his students at the center of their learning, from what they will learn that day to the design of progress reports. David began his career in early childhood education where he assisted a local Head Start Program with assessment and enrollment. He then taught high school English in Provence, France. After receiving his Master's in Education, he was a founding teacher at Extera Public Schools, a charter school in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles. At Extera, David developed a K-8 local history curriculum that connected students with community partners and culminated in students transforming local businesses into art galleries that featured student created art along themes of local history.
