Mary Catherine Coleman
Mary Catherine Coleman has been a librarian for twelve years. She has worked in both public libraries and school libraries. Over the past several years of her work in school libraries she has focused on creating curriculum and experiences for her students that incorporate research and literacy skills with technology, design thinking and encourage development of empowerment in her students to be members of a democratic society. She currently works in an Independent JK-12 school in Chicago where she has helped to design a new library space as well as create an integrated library and technology department. Mary Catherine has presented at local, state, national and international conferences including the International Association of School Librarians Annual Conference, Illinois Library Association and the Computer in Libraries Conference. Mary Catherine is published an article in AASL Knowledge Quest magazine titled Design Thinking and the School Library. She is the 2017 recipient of the
