Denise Kern

Beginning her career in education in 1975, Dr. Kern is an experienced PK-16 teacher, counselor, principal, and current Comal ISD School Board Trustee. She works with “kids” of all ages as she models “cradle to grave” learning. She has taught young children through college aged students. She has also taught parents and professionals in various capacities from classroom teacher to college professor and researcher. Dr. Kern’s experiences in rural schools, urban schools, laboratory schools, multi-age classrooms, self-contained classrooms and co-taught classrooms help her contribute a broad view of what student and teacher life is like in a school setting. Her unique perspective lends an important voice to a district’s team of eight.
